Hanoi- Bat Trang- Dong Ky- But Thap- Hanoi (L)
With Vietnamese people, the countryside is the most peaceful place that evokes the peasants’ laid back lives with bamboo trees, small tiled cottages, communal houses and sampan ferries. Traditional villages such as Bat Trang ceramic village and Dong Ky carpentry village are ideal places to get a glimpse into Vietnamese rural life as well as to discover the talents of Vietnamese people with their beautiful handicraft making traditions.
Pick you up at your hotel at 8.00 am. Transfer to visit Bat Trang ceramic village. On the way to Bat Trang, you can see the daily life of local people living along the bank of Red River. You spend two hours walking around Bat Trang village and its interesting ceramic workshops, then have lunch at a local restaurant with typical Vietnamese food.
Leave Bat Trang, our car takes you to visit But Thap Pagoda, the cradle of Vietnamese Buddhism with unique architecture. Finally arrive at Dong Ky carpentry village. Here they made furniture inlaid with mother of pearl and finish off with layer of brilliant lacquer. The work is highly elaborate as you will see how mother of pearl is delicately sawed info fine fish-bone sliver and set into wood. Back to Hanoi. End of the tour.

Bat Trang ceramic village

About 13 kilometers to the south of Hanoi is the location of Bat Trang village which is famous throughout the world for its ceramics. This is indeed the oldest and best known pottery village of Vietnam.
